About Poker-Planning.org

Poker-Planning.org is a free, browser-based Planning Poker tool built for Agile and Scrum teams. No account, no install, no friction — just create a session, share the link, and start estimating.

Why this tool exists

Most online Planning Poker tools either require a paid account, bundle estimation into a heavy project-management suite, or add enough friction that remote teams just give up and estimate informally in a chat window.

Poker-Planning.org was built around one idea: estimation should take seconds to set up. The whole flow is designed to stay out of the way so teams can focus on the conversation, not the tool.

  • Free to use — no subscription, no credit card
  • No signup required for participants
  • Session ready in under 10 seconds via a shareable link
  • Works on desktop and mobile, in any browser
  • Supports remote, hybrid, and co-located teams

How a session works

  1. Create a session — the facilitator opens a new session and gets a unique link. No account needed.
  2. Invite the team — participants join by opening the link. Each person enters a display name and is immediately in the room.
  3. Vote simultaneously — everyone picks a card from the Fibonacci sequence. Votes stay hidden until the facilitator reveals them, preventing anchoring bias.
  4. Discuss and re-vote if needed — when estimates diverge, the team discusses and can vote again until consensus is reached.

Built for Agile teams

The tool fits naturally into common Agile workflows:

  • Scrum — backlog refinement and sprint planning ceremonies
  • Kanban — effort sizing before pulling stories into the queue
  • SAFe / LeSS — PI planning and team-level estimation
  • Hybrid workflows — any team that needs a shared estimate before starting work

Works alongside your existing tools

Poker-Planning.org is a lightweight estimation helper, not a replacement for issue tracking or project management. Teams continue to use Jira, Linear, Azure DevOps, GitHub Issues, or Trello alongside it — the session result is simply copied back into whatever tool the team uses.

Technology

The application is built with Angular and hosted on Firebase. Real-time session synchronisation uses the Firebase Realtime Database, which means vote updates appear instantly for all participants without polling. There is no custom backend server to maintain.

Not related to gambling

Despite the word "poker" in the name, this tool has nothing to do with gambling, betting, or real money. The name comes from the physical Planning Poker card game used by Agile practitioners since the early 2000s. The mechanic — everyone reveals their estimate at the same time — is borrowed from poker to prevent anchoring, not for any gambling purpose.

There are no real money transactions, no casino games, and no betting features on this site.
